Our Mission
- Implement a network capable of 100 times the initial LAN throughput
- Network must use only TCP/IP and Novell IPX
- Each host terminal should be able to connect to the internet at a minimum of 1 Mbps
- Each server terminal should be able to connect to the internet at a minimum of 100 Mbps
- Network should be capable to grow 2 times the initial WAN core throughput
- Network should be capable to grow 10 times the initial district internet connection throughput
- Networks for Administrative and student purposes will be separate
- School network will be connected to district frame relay WAN link for purpose of data transfer
- All internet or outside connections are only able to be made from the district office
- Transport speeds available will be 10BaseT, 100Base-TX, and/or 100Base-FX
- Horizontal cabling will be CAT5 UTP capable of speeds of 100Mbps
- Vertical cabling will be either CAT5 UTP or Fiber optic multimode cabling
- All cabling will conform to the TIA-EIA-568-A and TIA-EIA-569 standards
- All major electronic network devices will be stored in the MDF
- The MDF will be the POP for the district WAN connection
- IDF's can exist if circumstances permit, but must connect directly to the MDF in a star or extended star topology
- Each room requiring network connection will be able to support 24 workstations with 4 CAT5 UTP
- Each room will have a lockable cabinet for storage of electronic network devices
- All network connections will be handled within the lockable cabinets within each network connected room
- Each district hub will contain a DNS server to handle all email and DNS services for the schools in that location
- Each school will have a host for DNS and Email services that will keep track of all students and staff at that location
- Each school will have a administrative server for housing student tracking, attendance, grading and other administration functions
- Only teachers and other staff may access the administrative server
- The district will have a library server for online curricular activities available to anyone at the school site
- Each school will have an application server available to anyone at the site containing all programs used at the school
- All network addressing and naming conventions will be according to standards set by the district office
